Gabrielle Vallot

A sketch showing the construction of the Mont Blanc Observatory.

Gabrielle Vallot was a French solar astronomer of the late 1800's who worked with her husband, Joseph Vallot (director of the Mont Blanc Observatory), on high altitude observations. Together, they published papers on the fall and rise of solar radiation intensity at alpine locations during a solar eclipse and on observations of chemical effects of radiation at varying altitudes. In order to make comparisons in their collected data, Gabrielle and her husband would do observations at different sites. Another husband and wife duo that you may be interested to learn more about are the Drapers.
